What is a Baby-Led Sleep and Well-Being Specialist?

Hi! If you don’t know by now my name is Brittney Dugger! I’m a mama to a super sweet and crazy one year old (who doesn’t usually look this serious!). I have been married to my husband for a little over 4 years now and we also have two dogs (a lab mix and a golden retriever cocker spaniel mix). There’s never really a dull moment in our house, but it sure makes for a lot of fun! I have been a registered nurse since 2018. I started out on a stroke unit and then moved to the NICU where my real passion was! I am also a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor and have completed my certification as a Baby-Led Sleep and Well-Being Specialist. So what do I do?

I teach parents about normal baby sleep and development and help them follow their instincts. I do not promote any form of sleep training. I work with parents to come up with a plan together to keep the pieces of their little one’s sleep routine that are working well, and slowly work to change the pieces that are no longer working for their family. We do this through adjusting naps, adding in associations, tweaking bedtime, and so much more! There really is a lot you can do without sleep training (while still supporting attachment). I work with families to go from bedsharing to baby’s crib, transition naps, stop nursing or rocking to sleep, and tune in to their unique little one.

We make these changes through a sleep support consultation package (I have an option for every situation!). I have an in-depth intake form I send you to get a really great picture of the entire sleep story. This includes a 3 day sleep and feeding log. Once you complete this intake form, I go through it and do a comprehensive analysis. I look at what’s working and what’s not. Then we hop on a consultation call (or email) and I go over my analysis, offer my tips and suggestions, listen to any concerns or questions you may have, and work with you to come up with a plan. Then we follow-up based on the package booked!

I am so passionate about helping families. When I first had my son, I got so caught up in all the wake windows, schedules, and what I should be doing and caused myself so much unnecessary stress and anxiety. We were all so much more stressed out trying to force sleep to happen. Once I deleted the sleep tracking apps, unfollowed sleep training accounts, and tuned in to my son, we all started sleeping better and were so much less stressed. This is when I found the Baby-Led Sleep Certification as well and it has completely changed the way I parent and look at baby sleep in general. If I can help prevent this stress and anxiety for other parents then I am happy to help!

I’m so excited for this journey and look forward to working with you!
